First grade rocks!

     Welcome to the 2017-2018 school year! I am Mrs. Ruth. This will be my tenth year at Parkland and my third year teaching first grade. I taught second grade for three years, and I am so excited for all the fun we are going to have in first grade.  

     I received my Bachelor's degree in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising from Philadelphia University in 2008. After college I received my teacher's certification from Moravian College in 2012. I have a passion for teaching and I look forward to working with your first grader and inspiring them to love learning and achieve certain goals. My classroom will be a fun and creative place where students imagine, explore, and discover in a structured and challenging atmosphere. 

     When I am not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family. I love playing tennis and working on house projects with my husband, Mr. Ruth.  I have an older sister named Caroline and an older brother named Clay, who are also teachers. I love reading, drawing, crafting, and of course shopping. One of my favorite summertime activities is going to the beach with my entire family. 

     I feel so very lucky to be teaching first grade at Parkway Manor. I know just how special Parkway Manor students are and I cannot wait to meet every one of you. I know first grade is going to rock this year!
