Homework Assignments:
Your child will be receiving homework Monday through Thursday evenings. Every Monday students will receive an assignment sheet where they will glue down their homework assignments. Your child's R.O.C.K.S.T.A.R binder will come home with your child each day. Please help your child complete their homework and place it in the right back to school side of their binder. Each time a student returns their homework on time, the student will receive a stamp on their homework chart. The chart is located inside their folder. After 20 stamps, the student will receive a prize.
Rock 'n' Read
In addition to the daily assignments, first graders are expected to be reading at home. Our Rock 'n' Read program is an optional at home reading program that encourages students to read for ten minutes. To participate, have your child mark down each night they read on the back of their assignment sheet and initial it. (Reading homework counts too!) I will collect the week's sheets on each Monday throughout the year. We are going to keep track of our class minutes. When our class has earned 500 stickers, we will celebrate. This program will continue for the entire school year. After we reach 500 stickers, we will keep going! Let's have fun and "Rock 'n' Read!"
